Biodiversity built for modern family living

Private sanctuary that blends modern family living with playful adventure in the hear of the city. In urban settings, we need to pack a lot of programming into a contained space. This project had a large brief. Fun and yet restful, functional and private. Areas for rest and entertaining, a large spa, yoga, dining, outdoor cooking, play, a putting green, a slack line for balance games. Over the course of the project, we transformed the space into the Shangri-la the clients were hoping for and have inspired the owners to spend much more time outside.

Custom wooden gates, structured timber pergolas, and stone paving grids define the property's function and programming. Extending this layout beyond typical boundaries, the design features a vibrant pollinator boulevard and integrates thoughtful landscaping directly into the public laneway, a gesture rarely seen in most neighbourhoods and residential design. The overwhelming spirit of this project is its seamless livability, where everything fits the clients' lifestyle, from the front-yard putting green and the back-deck kitchen to a relaxing tree swing meant for enjoying a glass of wine.
