West Coast living amongst native blooms

Seasonality and blossoms in abundance

This project focuses on a deep connection to nature through a sprawling backyard framed by dense native woodland. Our strategy focused on an elegant progression between modern architecture and the natural forest edge. The property unfolds through open grass, a reflecting pool, meadow plantings, gravel paths, and quiet stone terraces encircling a pool house and outdoor fire pit lounge. Patios and hardscape elements anchor the home to the site, allowing daily life to flow between indoor comfort and open-air family living.

The hardscape palette balances sharp-lined wood pavilions and smooth concrete retaining features with coarse gravel, large boulders, and glass-covered patios. Deep forest plantings emerge against raw stone faces, while the tree canopy reflects beautifully in the mirror-like stillness of peaceful water features. The final design delivers a highly functional and layered space designed for privacy and relaxation.

Integration with Nature

Curated with an emphasis on texture and seasonal rhythm, the planting palette blends a native forest understory with dense drifts of hardy perennials. Set against soft woodland ferns and lush green backdrops, airy spikes of lavender-purple blooms and delicate white blossoms create a striking contrast against rugged gray boulders. These plantings sweep beautifully across the property, framing the pathways and modern structures to create a meaningful connection with the forest.
